The Essential Enneagram by David Daniels and Virginia Price
The Enneagram is a powerful tool that helps one discover what it is within them that motivates their behavior. This book presents a simple self-administered personality assessment based upon the most effective “oral tradition” of the time-tested Enneagram model. The results will open doors for exploration and development like no other assessment I am aware of.

Nonviolent Communication: A Language of Life by Marshall Rosenberg
NVC begins by assuming that we’re all compassionate by nature and that violent strategies—whether verbal or physical—are learned behaviors taught and supported by the prevailing culture. NVC also assumes that we all share the same basic human needs and that each of our actions is a strategy to meet one or more of them. Bhagavad Gita: A New Translation by Stephen Mitchell
The Gita is often referred to as the Hindu bible. It’s actually a part of a much longer poem. While it details the conflict that Arjuna, a warrior, faces on the eve of battle it also says much much more. I haven’t met one person who has read the Gita and not walked away with a much deeper insight. There are many translations, and this is the best I’ve read.
Life of Pi by Yaan Martel
So is this really just a cute story about a young boy and a Bengal tiger stranded on a lifeboat in the Pacific Ocean—and also perhaps a metaphor for life. If it is a metaphor, what are the underlying messages? You’ve gotta read it and decide for yourself.
Yoga: The Iyengar Way by Silva, Mira, and Shyam Menta

Peace is Every Step: The Path of Mindfulness in Everyday Life by Thich Nhat Hanh
This powerful little book demonstrates how to live mindfully every moment of every day.
Illusion: Kirk Douglas stars in this independent film about a man reviewing his life—what he did, what he could’ve done differently, and what he can do now.
What The Bleep Do We Know: Part story and part discussion about quantum physics, reality, and the power we have to create and recreate our lives.
Lee Daniels’ The Butler: Not just a wonderfully acted historical drama, but also a deep and meaningful father/ son story. Well worth watching.

A Precious Human Life
Every day, think as you wake up.
Today I am fortunate to have woken up,
I am alive; I have a precious human life,
I am not going to waste it,
I am going to use
All my energies to develop myself
To expand my heart out to others,
To achieve enlightenment for
The benefit of all beings,
I am going to have kind
Thoughts towards others,
I am not going to get angry,
Or think badly about others
I am going to benefit others
As much as I can.
– His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama
